DHEC update: Myrtle Beach area, South Carolina coronavirus case totals continue to rise

Horry County confirmed the coronavirus case total rose by five on Wednesday following an announcement from the Department of Health and Environmental Control.

The case total is now 42 in the county. In addition, Georgetown County now has 14 confirmed cases.

South Carolina’s confirmed case total rose to 1,293, according to DHEC. There have been 26 coronavirus-related deaths in the state.

To help slow the spread, the governor closed non-essential businesses in the state and closed public beach access points and boat ramps. Officials ask residents wash their hands, stay home unless they need to venture out and to continue practicing social distancing.
