Two additional coronavirus cases confirmed in Myrtle Beach, Horry County area

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Controls confirmed two additional cases of coronavirus Friday in Horry County.

The new cases brings the total number in Horry to eight since the first COVID-19 patient was confirmed Sunday.

Statewide, DHEC announced an additional 45 cases, bringing the total in South Carolina to 124, including one death in Lexington County.

Coronavirus cases have been confirmed at most of the Grand Strand’s hospitals, including Grand Strand Medical Center, Tidelands Waccamaw Hospital, McLeod Seacoast in Little River and Conway Medical Center with some patients quarantined at those facilities.

SC Gov. Henry McMaster has announced numerous restrictions during the past week as the virus has spread including closing public schools and ordering restaurants to close to dine-in customers.
