Horry County, Myrtle Beach area sees additional confirmed case of coronavirus

Another case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Horry County on Thursday, according to the latest information from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.

The total known, confirmed cases in Horry County of COVID-19 has now increased to six since the first case was announced on Sunday. Currently, no deaths have been reported in any known patients in Horry County, but there has been one confirmed coronavirus-related death in South Carolina.

The new case reported by DHEC on Thursday may be at McLeod Seacoast, which confirmed it was notified of the first inpatient in its system with a confirmed positive for COVID-19. McLeod said it is following all CDC guidelines regarding isolation of this patient.

Across the state there are now 81 confirmed cases with one death reported as officials work to test more people who may have contracted the virus.

The Center for Disease Control is asking all residents to limit their social interactions, wash their hands and do whatever you can to keep this disease from spreading. Restaurants and bars in South Carolina are dine-in or takeout only, closed to dine-in customers.
