Beloved Myrtle Beach surf shop is moving. But first, it’s having big sales

A beloved Myrtle Beach surf shop is getting ready to move to a new location, but it won’t be going far.

Surf City Surf Shop, located at 6303 North Kings Highway, announced online that it is having a major sale of everything that isn’t “bolted down” in the store as they embark on a move to a new spot. The store will be moving just about a mile away to 7740 North Kings Highway, the former site of the Collectors Cafe and Gallery.

An opening date for the new location has not yet been solidified, but Stephanie Lester, who operates the store with her husband, explained that they are hoping for a late spring opening. The opening date will depend on how long it takes to set up and “build out” the new spot, she said.

What’s on sale at Surf City Surf Shop in Myrtle Beach

As the shop starts to clear out ahead of the move, they are offering deals on merchandise such as $100 off Lost surfboards and skimboards, 40% off sunglasses, 50% off Sun Bum products, and 75% off swimwear, backpacks and wallets. They are also offering $200 off select surf boards and selling the store’s floor surfboard racks, according to an online announcement.

Surf City has been an institution in the Grand Strand surf community since 1978, offering repairs, eco-tours, rentals, custom boards and more in addition to their merchandise. This will not be the shop’s first move, as Lester explained in its years of operation, Surf City has called roughly half a dozen locations home.

Surf City’s website will remain open through their transition to the new space. The shop will also open early bookings for their summer surf camps in March.
