A fine-dining restaurant in Little River has been at the center of recent rumors claiming that the spot is shutting down.
The Brentwood Restaurant and Wine Bistro at 4269 Luck Ave. is named as collateral in a foreclosure complaint filed in Horry County on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, which claims that the restaurant’s owners have defaulted on loan payments dating back to July 2025. But the restaurant posted on Facebook Friday saying any claims that they are being shut down are untrue.
The restaurant was closed on Monday and did not immediately respond to a voicemail message requesting comment.
The complaint for foreclosure alleges that Johnson and Shazia Lewis, who are residents of Virginia, along with their trust and companies, have failed to make payments on a $2,155,500 loan from ReadyCap Lending LLC that they received in August 2022.
The documents state that the loan is secured by the restaurant alongside other personal property, rents and leases. ReadyCap seeks to foreclose the property to cover the loan and collect any additional profit from the sale of the building. The company has also requested a change in management of the property.
Despite the court filing, The Brentwood’s Facebook post indicates that the restaurant remains fully operational.
According to reporting by WMBF, Johnson Lewis claimed that the restaurant is on a payment plan and will remain open.
The more-than-a-century-old former home and inn turned restaurant serves Lowcountry French cuisine in the Victorian home that was built in 1910. It also is known for being haunted, and offers ghost dinner tours year-round.
