New homes are under construction near this Myrtle Beach shopping center

The land behind Socastee Middle School will become brand-new homes starting at almost half a million dollars each.

Horry County land records show that the development plots have already been subdivided, with many of them listing new individual owners.

On Monday morning, crews were working to build a new wooden fence, move dirt with earthmovers and frame houses in the SayeBrook community. According to the new development’s website, this community is 730-acres with homes built by three different builders: Pulte Homes, Saussy Burbank and Toll Brothers.

Messages were left with all three builders on Monday.

New homes are continuing to be built in the SayeBrook community, sandwiched between a shopping center that will one day be home to Myrtle Beach’s first Trader Joe’s and Socastee Middle School.

Starting prices for the homes in this development from all three builders start at around or just under $450,000 and go up to above $525,000.

Some grassy and dirt-filled plots of land in the development already had “sold” signs posted on them on Monday.

These newly built homes encircle a shopping center that will one day be the home of Myrtle Beach’s first Trader Joe’s.
