Carolina Forest development nearly complete. What final businesses will be added?

A Carolina Forest grocery shopping center is reaching the end of development, with all businesses either planned or built.

Marketplace at the Mill, which is located at the intersection of Carolina Forest Boulevard and River Oaks Drive, is completely leased and only has a handful of buildings left to construct. Publix anchors the center, with various restaurants, beauty salons and car-based businesses.

Sembler, a retail real estate developer based in St. Petersburg, Florida, is behind the creation of the center. The Publix at Marketplace at the Mill opened in November 2022. Other businesses followed suit, like River Oaks Pizzeria which opened around the start of 2023, The Sun News reported.

Sembler did not respond to a request for comment from The Sun News.

The Hawthorne at the Mill, a luxury apartment complex, also opened as part of this development project.

Construction has started for Chase Bank, which will be located on the far corner, and Sembler has confirmed an AutoZone, a Noodles & Company and a Wendy’s are under contract, Sembler’s website shows.

The completion of Marketplace at the Mill marks piece of development in the Carolina Forest area. Once being an actual forest, the population has increased over the past 15 years, causing homes, apartments and businesses to be quickly constructed.
