Preston’s restaurant in North Myrtle Beach torn down. What the future holds for land

Demolition has begun at Preston’s Restaurant, the former seafood and country buffet, to make way for a new business to open.

North Myrtle Beach permit records indicate a Parker’s Kitchen will be built at 4530 S.C. 17 S. There are multiple active permits for Parker’s Kitchen, including for a single story commercial building, multiple signs, a diesel generator and a fuel canopy.

The permits were filed during the spring and summer of 2025. Parker’s Kitchen did not respond to a request to comment prior to publication.

It is unclear when construction would finish for Parker’s Kitchen.

Preston’s Restaurant shut down in November after 35 years in business, The Sun News reported.

“Thank you for letting us serve you, as we will cherish the memories made with so many of our loyal guests, it feels like family,” owner Jane McMichael said in a statement on the restaurant’s website.

McMichael said in the November statement that cooks and staff will be joining her at Preston’s sister restaurant, Captain Jack’s Seafood Restaurant, in the spring.
