Myrtle Beach wellness center that temporarily closed reopened with new hours

After a Myrtle Beach health center closed due to a lack of funds, it has reopened with shorter hours.

Mindzero, 3848 S. Kings Highway, announced a temporary closure to its members last week, according to an email sent to The Sun News from Brandon Kefauver. A new email was sent out July 2 stating it reopened last Wednesday.

“We’ll start with limited hours 5pm to 9pm daily and expand from there,” owner David Semerad wrote in an email.

Mindzero offers contrast therapy, which involves patrons moving from a sauna to a pool of 53 degree water multiple times. This is supposed to reset the brain and bring the mind back to zero, Kefauver previously told The Sun News.

There are two Mindzero locations, one in Myrtle Beach and another in Mount Pleasant, and the company has plans open seven more across the United States, according to the website. It is unclear if the expansion led to the temporary closure and rollback of hours.

“Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to raise the capital needed to support the growth we were heading toward. Our cash reserves dropped so low that I had to make the heartbreaking decision to let most of the team go,” Semerad wrote on the original June 29 email.

While the July 2 email said Mindzero would open at 5 p.m., there are classes available earlier in the day throughout the second week of July on the website. The Sun News contacted the Myrtle Beach Mindzero for clarification but did not receive a response before publication.
