A Greek restaurant is replacing a former pizza spot in North Myrtle Beach

A new Greek food spot will be opening in a former pizza place.

Pittsburgh Pizza Pub at 730 Highway 17 South in North Myrtle Beach shut its doors in late December, owner Adam Lucas previously told The Sun News. The restaurant had first opened in 2021.

Now, Zesty Authentic Greek Cuisine, will be opening in the same location. The finance person of the new restaurant, Greg Sakas, said they plan to officially open on May 9.

“Our menu is consistently authentic Greek,” he said.

Sakas said this will be the first restaurant of its kind in North Myrtle Beach. Some of the restaurant’s new recipes date back to Sakas’s mother, who made the best baklava, he said.

Sakas’s family is from an area of Greece that’s approximately 300 kilometers north of Athens, he said.

“We basically had certain dishes that were made in that area, and we’re going to be using some of those,” he said.

The restaurant has also been renovated so that the inside will look like the inside of a restaurant in Greece, Sakas said.

A recent post on the new business’s Facebook page said they are hiring staff for the new restaurant and that they will be opening very soon.
