The City of Myrtle Beach announced on social media that the speed limit changed in The Market Common.

The speed limit on Farrow Parkway, between Shine Avenue and Meyers Avenue, was reduced from 35 mph to 30 mph, the city wrote in its post. Myrtle Beach’s Public Works crews replaced the signage on Monday.

According to the city’s post, reasons for the speed limit change included high volume of pedestrians, turns and curves in the road, on-street parking and “residents have expressed a desire for this change.”

This change follows a vibrant community meeting last month when residents asked city officials to make traffic changes in order to better pedestrian safety in the area.
