‘Our Christmas miracle.’ Myrtle Beach brewery shares update after announcing it’s closing
Less than a week ago, a Murrells Inlet brewery that’s part of a larger Pennsylvania-based chain said they’d be shutting their door permanently on Facebook.
But, a day after what was supposed to be their last day, they’re still open.
The Voodoo Brewing Company location in Murrells Inlet will now remain open until at least the end of this month, Dec. 31, 2024, according to a statement on their Facebook page.
“To be completely honest, we truly don’t even have the words for this post because we NEVER thought we would be making it,” the Dec. 8 post said. “Between the outpouring of community support and the backing of financial investors, we are staying OPEN through the end of the month!”
Sunday, Dec. 8 was supposed to be the business’s last day in operation, according to their previous announcement last week.
The post attributes staying open to an overwhelming amount of community support, saying it’s been “beyond astounding.”
As of early Monday afternoon, the new announcement had received 911 reactions and 113 comments of encouragement on Facebook.
A call to the franchise’s owner, Mike Dapolite, was not immediately returned.
After December 2024, it remains unclear what will happen with the business.
Other South Carolina locations of Voodoo Brewing Company are located in Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach, and Fountain Inn, SC.
