Myrtle Beach restaurateur introducing this national noodles chain to the Grand Strand
Phil Saad is an owner of a few Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants as well as ice cream and burger eateries on the Grand Strand, and he’s about to introduce a fast-casual restaurant chain to the area.
Noodles & Company is opening Wednesday on Loyola Drive on the south end of Myrtle Beach, just south of S.C. 544 off U.S. 17 Bypass. Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends.
“We want to introduce something to the market that is kind of unique and has a specialization in one thing,” Saad said. “We love the area and it’s growing and we love to grow with the area.”
Noodles & Company offers international and American noodle dishes and pasta in addition to soups and salads. The restaurant was founded in 1995, is headquartered outside Denver, Colorado, and has more than 450 locations nationwide. Saad’s restaurant will be the first franchise in South Carolina, and corporate representatives were on-hand Tuesday for a soft friends-and-family opening. There are a dozen locations in North Carolina.
Dishes include bowls; stuffed pasta; pasta noodles; macaronis including the popular Wisconsin Mac & Cheese and a gluten-sensitive pipette; Asian noodles including lo mein, pad thai, Japanese pan and Korean beef noodles; and cauliflower and zucchini noodles. There are also appetizers and sides including potstickers and Korean BBQ meatballs and a few desserts.
It is also equipped with a multiple-option, mix-and-match Coca-Cola Freestyle drink machine.
Portions include small, large, kids and family meals.
“It’s all about noodles,” Saad said. “We have all kinds of noodles from different parts of the world fixed different ways. ”
Saad said he intends to expand on the Grand Strand with Noodles & Company restaurants in the Carolina Forest and central Myrtle Beach areas in the next few years. “Those are in the works now,” he said.
He’s happy with the location of his first Noodles & Company. “Queens Harbour is a great area. It’s a very organized area, it’s a very growing area with high traffic,” Saad said.
Saad said his restaurant is not affiliated with the locally-owned E Noodles & Co.
