As travelers around the United States experience unusually long security wait times, Myrtle Beach International Airport officials say flyers can expect normal lines and check current wait times online.

Now 40 days into the Department of Homeland Security shutdown, thousands of TSA employees working without pay have called out of work, leading to hours-long lines at major travel hubs.

Despite spring break travelers flying in and out of the Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach International Airport hasn’t been impacted so far, and officials don’t anticipate an issue.

“Myrtle Beach International Airport is currently experiencing normal security checkpoint wait times,” said Myrtle Beach International Airport business and air service analyst Lauren Wehrung. “Travelers are encouraged to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure to allow sufficient time for security screening and boarding.”

“Airport staff will continue to work closely with TSA partners to maintain an efficient and smooth screening process,” Wehrung said.
