Summer and ice cream go hand in hand. There are numerous ice cream shops along the Grand Strand, and most people have their favorite.
With National Ice Cream Day on Sunday, July 19, 2026, The Sun News took a look at the top-rated ice cream shops in the Myrtle Beach area according to Yelp reviews.
Here’s the scoop on each of the shops. Are any of them your favorite?
Melt
This ice cream shop in North Myrtle Beach was voted best ice cream shop by The Sun News readers in 2024 and 2025, and it was named best shop in South Carolina by Travel + Leisure magazine in 2019. The family-owned ice cream parlor Melt offers homemade waffle cones and 60 to 70 craft ice cream flavors. It is located at 204 Main St., North Myrtle Beach.
Kirk’s 1890 Ice Cream Parlor
While it hasn’t been operating since 1890, the locally-owned ice cream parlor has been serving up nostalgia in Myrtle Beach for nearly half a century. Kirk’s sports vintage decor, Tiffany-style lights and parlor chairs that might be found in an old-fashioned soda fountain. The ice cream is hand-scooped from more than 40 flavors. The ice cream parlor has two locations in Myrtle Beach: the original at 2500 N. Kings Highway and the second at 6101 N. Kings Highway.
Cows and Cones Creamery
A family-owned and operated ice cream parlor has two locations – its original in Aynor and another at 5109 Highway 501 in Conway. The shop offers classic flavors, as well as special flavors such as Rassberry Chip Cheesecake and Ultimate Peanut Butter Brownie.
Sweet Molly’s Creamery
Named after one of the owners’ rescue dogs, Molly, Sweet Molly’s has been operating in the Myrtle Beach area for 22 years. And because Molly is the mascot and official taste tester, the shop has a sundae on the menu just for dogs. The humans can pick between 16 and 22 homemade, gourmet flavors. There are two locations, one in Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach and the other at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach.
The Dolly Llama
Located at 505 9th Ave. S in Myrtle Beach, this downtown ice cream shop includes regular waffles with toppings, shakes and 14 ice cream flavors and nearly 30 sauces and toppings.
Drippy’s Homemade Ice Cream
With four locations along the south part of the Grand Strand, Drippy’s is a family owned and operated ice cream shop. It has 18 year-round flavors, and its Garden City location seems to be one of diners’ favorites according to reviews. It also has locations along the MarshWalk in Murrells Inlet and on the Surfside Fishing Pier in Surfside Beach.
