Popular Myrtle Beach restaurant to reopen after renovations. Here’s what to know
A popular restaurant at the intersection of Eighth Avenue North and Main Street in downtown Myrtle Beach is preparing to reopen after shutting down for construction.
Sun City Cafe is known for its signature “Myrtle-Mex” dishes, which it calls delicious, but not authentic. Located at 801 Main St. in the Arts and Innovation District, the restaurant made Southern Living’s list of the best restaurants in Myrtle Beach in 2025.
Last month, Sun City Cafe closed to the public for renovations. Now, it’s preparing to reopen.
“Construction is nearly complete, and Sun City Cafe will be reopening very soon ... Stay tuned for our official reopening date — it’s just around the corner!” the restaurant said in a Facebook post.
On Wednesday afternoon, workers at the site continued painting and construction at Sun City Cafe. Although an official reopening date hasn’t been announced, the eatery previously shared plans to return in February.
The restaurant will serve the same Mexican-inspired food its customers know and love, despite an old sign reading steak and chops that was spotted out front last month.
“Get ready to enjoy your favorite dishes, fresh flavors, and the warm atmosphere you’ve been missing,” Sun City Cafe wrote.
