North Myrtle Beach BBQ restaurant has closed. Another restaurateur to take over
A North Myrtle Beach barbecue restaurant has closed its doors, but not for good.
Another restaurateur has taken over ownership and plans to have it reopened in about a month.
Old South BBQ Company, 1020 Sea Mountain Highway, will be operated by the daughter and father team of Heather Zanfardino and Kenny Hyatt.
Zanfardino also owns Salty Brews and the Cha House in North Myrtle Beach.
The menu won’t change, Zanfardino said. The restaurant will continue to serve pulled pork and chicken, barbecue butt, ribs, hot dogs, hamburgers and wings, she said. Zanfardino does plan to add some new items to the menu.
And while the name also will stay the same, the logo won’t, Zanfardino said.
The small restaurant, which always had a smoker out front, will be remodeled with painting and upgrading. “It needs some love,” Zanfardino said.
She is unsure why the business closed. But when Zanfardino saw it was available, she knew she wanted to buy it.
“It was a cute building,” Zanfardino said, “and I love barbecue.”
