A new Korean steakhouse is coming to the Myrtle Beach area. It will have hot pot and sushi
A long-awaited new restaurant is closer to opening.
Lava Korean Steakhouse is a new restaurant coming to the Myrtle Beach area. The restaurant is next to the Myrtle Beach Mall at 10207 Highway 17, the former location of a bank.
The restaurant will serve hot pot Korean barbecue and sushi, according to owner Suzan Heryadi. Heryadi, who is also a part owner of the Sneaky Beagle, Grumpy Monk and Hop and Hop N’ Wich, added the restaurant would also offer dry aged steak, wagyu beef and other options. Hot pot is a Korean cooking variant where diners receive platters of uncooked meats and vegetables cooked at the table.
“If you like the steak, you like the sushi (Lava) is the place,” Heryadi said.
He added the restaurant will serve high-end food at an affordable price.
“We accommodate any type of people,” Heryadi said.
Heryadi said the restaurant will open in January or early February and is hiring 30 people.
Heryadi added the eatery will have 37 tables, seating four each, and a bar that seats 20 people. He also said future customers should expect good wine and mimosas.
“We’ve got a very good mimosa,” he added.
Other restaurants have opened to feed the growing demand for Korean Barbecue. In Aug. 2023, another hot pot restaurant, Hi Pot Korean Barbecue & Hot Pot, opened in the Myrtle Beach area, as Grand Strand residents say they want more diverse food choices, specifically restaurants serving Asian cuisine.
