No gloves, improper food handling 2 reasons this Myrtle Beach area restaurant got a “C”

Three Horry County restaurants were cited with grades below an “A” in routine health inspections last week Nov. 07 to 11 by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.

1. The Golden Kitchen, 820 Surfside Drive, Surfside Beach, received a 76%.

2. Joe’s Bar And Grill, 810 Conway St., N. Myrtle Beach received a 81%. Joe’s Bar And Grill, 810 Conway St., N. Myrtle Beach received a 96%.

3. Old Bull And Bush, 4700 U.S. 17 Bypass, Myrtle Beach, received an 83%.

  • The Golden Kitchen, Surfside Beach, had a routine inspection on Nov., 7th and received a “C” - 76% score the following violations were noted: “an employee was observed mixing raw chicken with their bare hands and wiping their hands on an apron,then returned to the cook line to cook food.” “The employee did not wash their hands between the tasks.” “An employee was observed cracking eggs with their bare hands, then handling prepared food at the sink and returning to the cook line without washing their hands.” “Another employee was observed rinsing dirty bowls, then storing them as clean.” “The bowls were not sanitized prior to being stored as clean.” A follow-up inspection is to be performed within 10 days for violations.   • Joe’s Bar and Grill, North Myrtle Beach, had a routine inspection on Nov. 9th and received a “B” - 81% score the following violations were noted: “an employee was observed mixing a salad with bare hands. No paper towels were found at hand sink by food preparation area. Observed Food was stored on floor in walk in cooler and walk in freezer.” “Improper thawing of fish was observed in sink with running water on it in original packaging,” according to the report. A follow-up inspection was performed on Nov., 10th and the facility scored an “A” - 96% finding all items corrected from the previous routine inspection. This information is provided by the S.C.   • Old Bull and Bush, Myrtle Beach, had a routine inspection on Nov., 8th and received a “B” - 83% score the following violations were noted: “eating, drinking, or using Tobacco - Advised employees that they shall eat, drink or use tobacco in designated areas only. All personal drinks must have a lid. Observed multiple employee drinks without lids in the kitchen. Observed a dicer for dicing food was stored as clean but was soiled with food debris. A chemical container was observed and was being re-used for chicken breading,” according to the report. A follow-up inspection is to be performed within 10 days for violations.
