Investors are set to invigorate the Sunset Beach area in North Carolina.

The Sunset Beach town council approved a plan to build a new 150-room hotel, close to 450 short-term rental spaces and a new business community.

Short-term rentals will range from two to four bedrooms and 125 could be built in the first year. Other developments in the Sea Trail area will be the addition of a new spa at Sea Trail’s pool area, two new single-family home developments that total 142 units and two townhome communities that total 115 units.

The plan was first reported by On The Green Magazine.

Another part of the plan will be the reopening the Sea Trail Convention Center, which has been closed since 2018 according to On The Green Magazine.

The magazine added renovations have already started on the roof, landscaping and other areas.

The project is being led by the company Riptide Builders and local golf course booking company Golf Trek. North Brunswick Magazine reported Riptide has already invested more than $50 million into the renovation project.

Sea Trail Golf Resort & Convention Center is located at 75A Clubhouse Road. The resort includes the Rees Jones Golf Course, Willard Byrd Golf Course and Dan Maples Golf Course.

All three courses are part of a recent poll to determine the best golf course in the Myrtle Beach area. Interested participants can vote here. Results will be announced Thursday, July 27.
