THE LOWDOWN
Martin’s Restaurant blends a few styles. On one hand, Martin’s has a vacation/stay-cation feel. Located on the ground floor of Long Bay Resort, the place has bay windows filled with poolside views and palm trees. There’s a dining room full of tables with candles and white tablecloths. Wooden, lattice shutters separate the dining room from a shiny granite bar.
On the other hand, there are the walls filled with the bright, swirling murals. A laidback vibe seems to waft about the place. Yes, the décor may be duplicitous, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Martin’s Restaurant has been a cornerstone of Long Bay Resort’s lobby for years. It’s like two buddies with different personalities hanging out at the beach.
This family-owned joint opens from 6:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. for breakfast. Then it reopens at 4 p.m. and starts the evening with a two-hour happy hour. From 4 to 6 p.m., domestic beers go for $2. House wines and liquors pour for $4. There’s also a nice array of appetizers for $5 during happy hour – Cajun chicken, crab cakes, steamed mussels, eggplant rolls, calamari and shrimp cocktail.
TIPS
The kitchen is only open until 9:30 p.m. so if you want eats get them while the getting is good. Plus, the $2 domestics and $5 apps are worth making the trip for happy hour to fill the table with some seafood and brew.
