Make a plan before going to Myrtle Beach Beer Fest
The Myrtle Beach Beer Fest is back and is taking over TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, the home of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans minor league baseball team.
The fun goes down on May 9 and there are two sessions for eating and drinking and sampling a wide variety of craft beers from many different brewers.
The first session is from 2-5 p.m. for $35. The second session is from 6-9 p.m. and is also $35. Parking is free at the stadium and the event happens rain or shine.
Beer samples are 4 ounces each and you can’t bring in any of your own coolers or drink bottles.
Here are a few tips on how to make the most out of the Myrtle Beach Beer Fest:
Make a plan
It’s always a great idea to look over the beer list and make your own list of things that are must haves, that way you're less likely to miss out on something you really want to try. (Hint: The beer list is somewhere in this edition of Surge.)
Drink a lot of water
Hydration is extremely important because it helps prevent the unwanted hangover. Drink water before, during and after the event. I like to partner my samples with the same amount of water, that way I'm cleansing my palate a bit and staying hydrated.
Pace yourself
A beer fest is not a race, it’s a marathon. Take your time through each beer and savor their flavors and aromas.
Take notes
What did you like about the beer, and why? Taking notes allows you to revisit the beer fest after and determine what you liked the most.
Eat
It’s smart to take frequent breaks and grab a bite to eat. Again, this helps to prevent a hangover. It also helps with pacing and tasting!
Plan ahead
DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE! Make arrangements for a ride home or call a cab (see box).
