THE LOWDOWN

Come by boat, car or cab. The Boathouse Waterway Bar & Grill is continuously a hot spot in Myrtle Beach, and this year is no different. That’s where we went for happy hour this week.

The Boathouse Waterway Bar & Grill is located on the waterway in Myrtle Beach on Fantasy Harbour Boulevard near U.S. 501. It’s a fun and casual joint where you can kick back and enjoy the waterfront view, live music and sports. (And if you’re a Steelers fan, you’re in good company.)

The locale has a number of features that appeal to patrons. The large interior has a sizable square bar that seats at least 20. You can also snag a seat at a number of tables or a couple of couches next to a fireplace.

There’s outdoor tiki bar, too, which is situated under a century-old willow tree.

Perhaps the biggest draw is the huge backyard lawn that extends down to the Intracoastal Waterway.

That’s where people head on Sundays for the Outdoor Summer Concert Series. Nationally known bands take to the outdoor stage every Sunday until Labor Day, and those concerts are free and open to all ages.

The establishment also hosts other live music throughout the week, including regional and national country artists on Fridays. You can test your knowledge at Team Trivia on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m.

Happy hour runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Drink deals include $1.75 select draft beers, $2 domestic beers, $3 import beers, $3 well drinks and $3 house wines. You can also get $2 off appetizers.

TIPS

▪ The Boathouse Waterway Bar & Grill is now smoke-free indoors and on the outdoor covered patio. (Smoking is still allowed on the lawn and at the Tiki Bar.)

▪ On Tuesdays from October to March the locale offers a Buy-One Get-One Free program on any entrée or sandwich.
