What is with all these CCMF tickets for sale on Facebook? Here are the laws
If you type CCMF into Facebook don’t be surprised to see the first 10 results are for tickets being sold for the event. Several ticket buyers have taken to social media platforms like Facebook to sell their tickets before the festival begins.
The Carolina Country Music Festival is set to begin Thursday, June 8. With tens of thousands set to converge on Myrtle Beach.
Several Facebook groups are offering tickets ranging from general admission to VIP, including the CCMF 2023 Tickets Buy/Sell page that was started in April.
CCMF does not offer refunds for tickets, but South Carolina does allow tickets to be resold. “A person or entity who offers for resale or resells a ticket for admission to an event must request or receive no more than one dollar above the price charged by the original ticket seller,” according to the South Carolina Legislature website.
Profiting from selling tickets could result in paying a fine of up to $100 or jail time for less than 30 days. Potential concertgoers should also avoid unreliable social media vendors, as some users have claimed they did not receive their tickets after purchasing them on Facebook.
The Better Business Bureau said buyers can avoid being scammed by looking up if sellers are members of the National Association of Ticket Brokers and only use forms of payment that offer consumer protection in case of fraud.
Most posts did not give a reason for why they were selling their ticket. The festival was expected to feature Morgan Wallen as a headlining act, but he canceled May 12 due to medical reasons. He was replaced by singer Kenny Chesney.
