Incoming brewery saves Myrtle Beach coffee shop from closing. Here’s the new setup
Editor’s Note: This article has been corrected to clarify the Roasted Bean was not located in The Market Common.
The Roasted Bean has been saved.
T.J. Weeden, who owns the coffee shop along with Mike Weeden, announced Saturday via Facebook Live that the business will continue on as a beverage truck after initially announcing plans to close because its lease was ending and not being renewed.
The Roasted Bean on Feb. 17 will set up shop in the parking lot for the future Tidal Creek Brewhouse, which advertises it will open in “early 2020,” and serve customers there until further notice.
“When one door closes, another one opens,” T.J. Weeden said during the Facebook Live post. “Tidal Creek Brewhouse has opened up their parking lot so that the Roasted Bean can continue on — in a different setting, I know. You won’t be able to sit inside the coziness of our tiny little kitchen or our dining area and have you coffee and breakfast. But you still can come to work, stop at the Roasted Bean truck, get your latte, get your coffee, get your smoothies, get your frappes until further notice.”
Weeden said the business got permission from the City of Myrtle Beach to use the coffee truck in order to stay in business via the agreement with Tidal Creek Brewhouse.
The Roasted Bean’s last day at its current location is Feb. 14. On Feb. 17, it will reopen as a coffee truck — “we just won’t be serving food out of it anymore,” Weeden said — from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Weeden said it’s “bittersweet to say goodbye in two weeks” at the current location but said it was “very exciting” to move on to the next chapter. She also hinted that further news is in the works.
“There’s a bunch of other stuff that’s we’re going to be doing, but I cannot release that information yet,” she told viewers via Facebook Live.
Tidal Creek Brewhouse will be located at 3421 Knowles Street near The Market Common, though not part of the establishment. The brewery describes itself as “a taproom-focused brewery concept located in the Market Common area of Myrtle Beach. TCB will brew and sell on-premise a variety of craft beers and other beverages, accompanied by a seasonal, high quality limited menu” on its Facebook page.
