It’s fair to say there will be a lot of local interest in this December’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives North-South Bowl.

Seven area football standouts were selected to play in the all-star football game on Monday.

Recently crowned champions of Region 6-5A, a pair of Conway’s senior contributors earned North-South recognition. Hard-hitting linebacker Jaylen Moody will take part in this year’s festivities, along with offensive lineman Lucas Partin.

North Myrtle Beach will also send two of its key standouts to the game, as running back Kered Class and defensive lineman Kwame Livingston were selected. The lone undefeated team on the Grand Strand, the Chiefs go into Friday’s season finale with a 9-0 record and ranked No. 2 in Class 4A.

They are the first North Myrtle Beach players selected to the game since Colby Gore in 2014.

A stellar season for Carvers Bay got better on Monday as a pair of the Bears’ top players received all-star distinction. Lineman Emmanuel Tatum was selected to play in the game, along with defensive back/wide receiver Dijon Goss.

They will join coach Nate Thompson in the game, the longtime Carvers Bay head man tabbed as South team coach.

Rounding out the local contingent headed to the North-South all-star game is Carolina Forest offensive lineman Tommy Shubert. It is the second straight year in which a Panthers offensive lineman will participate in the game, following in same footsteps as former teammate Antwine Loper.

This year’s Touchstone Energy Cooperatives North-South Bowl will take place at noon Dec. 9 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
