Man hospitalized after Longs-area shooting during possible home invasion
A man was airlifted to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday morning after suffering a gunshot wound during an attempted robbery in the Longs area.
Horry County fire and police were called about 9 a.m. to the 9000 block of S.C. 905, according Capt. Greg Rogers with Horry County Fire Rescue.
Crews were dispatched to the home after a caller stated that a black male was trying to break into the residence. Officers found the suspect lying in the back yard with blood on the back of his shirt, according to a police report.
“The homeowner called 911, and we had a male victim who was transported to a local hospital, and his condition is unknown,” said Lt. Raul Denis with Horry County police.
According to an arrest warrant, Daniel Frinks, 57, of Longs, attempted to force entry into the residence “with the intent to commit a crime” and was warned repeatedly to leave by a homeowner inside, but he “continued trying to gain entry.”
“Frinks was eventually shot by the homeowner out of fear for her safety” and he suffered a “non-life-threatening,” according to the warrant.
Frinks was charged with attempted robbery. He remains in the custody of the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
