Horry County police say no one injured in Sunhouse gas station shooting
Horry County police are investigating a shooting reported at the Sunhouse convenience store at 2696 S.C. 90 near Conway at 10:48 a.m. Wednesday.
Witnesses told police someone was shooting at someone else and that a male was seen running from the area, according to Lt. Raul Denis with the Horry County Police Department. There were no victims on scene when authorities arrived.
“Our officers’ investigation found that a man whose car was stolen was alerted to the whereabouts of his car by a GPS locator. That man found his car at the Sunhouse store and approached the car and its occupant with a gun drawn and pointed and, in the course of their interactions, he fired warning shots,” Denis said. “This man is in custody awaiting charges. The man in the stolen car did flee from the incident location.”
Witnesses told The Sun News that a blue Ford SUV pulled into the parking lot, followed by a Lexus, and the driver of the Lexus fired a gun.
“He wasn’t aiming to hurt him. He was just trying to stop him,” said Sarah Duff, a witness at the scene, who operates a nearby shop.
Sunhouse employees and witnesses were locked in the convenience store as the incident occurred. As of noon, the man who reportedly shot at the driver of the blue SUV, was being questioned by Horry County Police and was taken from the scene.
Witnesses on scene said they knew the identity of the SUV driver.
Officers are working to track him down to determine if any criminal charges should be filed, Denis said. No one was injured in this incident.
