Police find syringes, abandoned drugs while arresting man at Myrtle Beach Walmart
A 34-year-old man was arrested Saturday night after police said they saw him drop bags of cocaine and meth and found multiple needles in a backpack, a Myrtle Beach police report states.
Officers were on patrol when they said they spotted three people sitting on a curb in a back parking lot at Walmart on 1705 South Kings Highway.
One man left the group, abandoning a black backpack when he walked away. Police shouted for him to stop and head back to where he was, and that’s when officers said they him drop something in the landscaping nearby.
Authorities found the discarded items and said they were bags with different substances inside. As police investigated they learned the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Jason Michael Brown in the report, was noted as trespassing at the store.
Police placed him under arrest, and several syringes were found inside the backpack he previously walked away from, according to the report.
“The offender stated that they were clean needles. Another syringe was located in a separate pocket and appeared to have been used. The offender did admit to officers that he used the one syringe to abuse drugs,” the report states.
The substances the suspect dropped tested positive for cocaine and methamphetamine, and a search of the suspect’s criminal history showed multiple drug charges, police said.
He was charged with possession of cocaine and meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trespassing, authorities said.
The others he had been sitting with were interviewed by police and released.
