He came into the room armed with a gun. Cops release details of robbery near CCU

A victim of an armed robbery Wednesday afternoon near Coastal Carolina University told police a man came into his room at the Monarch Apartments with a gun, according to an update from Conway police.

The victim told police the man who came into his room pulled out a gun and demanded his cash, a release from Lt. Selena Small, spokeswoman with Conway police.

Officers were called about 4:40 p.m. to the apartment complex at 660 S.C. 544 to investigate, Small said. CCU officials sent out an alert following the reported robbery, warning students and staff about the incident.

The suspect stole an unknown amount of money and fled the area, Small said.

After investigating, police determined a second suspect was believed to be involved and was arrested, according to Small, who said that person was arrested in connection to the incident as an accessory before the fact of an armed robbery.

Small said his name and information will be released once he is formally charged.

The investigation is ongoing, and officers are continuing to follow up on leads in the case, Small said.

Anyone with information on the incident can call the Conway Police Department at 843-248-1790.
