Woman accused of switching price tags to get $123 discount at Wal-Mart
A woman accused of swindling Wal-Mart by changing the price tags on her items before she checked out, told police “she switched the tags because someone told her it would work,” according to a Myrtle Beach police report.
It saved her money at the register, but it landed her in jail.
Thirty-seven-year-old Elisabeth Johns Rogers of Surfside Beach was charged with obtaining goods under false pretenses Saturday afternoon.
A loss prevention officer at the Seaboard Street Wal-Mart told police that Rogers was seen “removing the barcodes from items and placing other barcode stickers on the same items,” the report stated.
When Rogers checked out with her merchandise valued at $193.09, she paid $69.57, the security guard told police.
Rogers was arrested and transported to the Myrtle Beach jail. She was released on bond Sunday, according to online court records.
Rogers has had prior arrests this year for charges of child neglect and meth possession. Those charges are still pending.
