Pistol whipping leads to accidental shooting
Two men were arrested after a pistol-whipping led to an accidental shooting at Remedies Bar in an unincorporated area of Myrtle Beach Thursday night.
Witnesses told Horry County police a man struck another man with a pistol during an argument and the gun went off. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Witnesses described a vehicle used to leave the area and a hunt for the suspects ensued, according to Lt. Raul Denis of the Horry County Police Department.
Officers spotted the vehicle on Harrelson Boulevard and followed it onto Claypond Road and then Arrowhead Boulevard where a traffic stop was initiated, but police say the car continued on until a wreck blocked its way. One man escaped on foot but was apprehended after a brief foot chase, according to a police report.
Michquan Kenyon Brown, 22, of Myrtle Beach, was charged with pointing and presenting a firearm, driving under suspension, failure to stop for a blue light and sirens and for the unlawful carry of a pistol.
Corey Lyle Chestnut, 23, of Conway was charged with resisting arrest and for the unlawful carry of a pistol.
