Cause of death unclear for man who fell from banana boat ride

A man died after he fell off a banana boat ride at Aloha Watersports in North Myrtle Beach.

The man “wound up face down in the water,” said Pat Dowling, spokesman for North Myrtle Beach, in an email.

Lifeguards on the shore performed CPR and used a defibrillator on the man before he was transported to the hospital. He later died.

“It appeared to the lifeguards and rescue personnel that he had suffered a heart attack, but the coroner’s office will have to clarify the actual cause of death,” Dowling said in the email.

Aloha Watersports park is located at 2208 Ocean Boulevard North in North Myrtle Beach, and offers parasailing in addition to banana boat rides.
