A 46-bed rehabilitation hospital could come to Horry County
A previous version of the story quoted Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation President Josh Kay as saying the rehabilitation facility would have 134 beds. He has since clarified that it was 46 beds.
A new physical rehabilitation hospital could be coming to Horry County.
Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation President Josh Kay said the 46-bed for-profit, inpatient rehabilitation hospital called Southhealth could bring 134 jobs paying around $28 an hour to Little River.
The company is looking at property in the former Bay Tree development off South Carolina Highway 9, but still has to close on the property, said Kay, who added that the Birmingham, Alabama-based company would make a capital investment of $23 million.
“The rehabilitation procedures are certainly knee and joint replacement rehabilitation but it’s also brain injury, it’s stroke, that type,” said Kay. “Health care certainly is a new target market that we’re focusing on, we feel like we’re in a good location for those type of companies.”
An official announcement could come by March or April, Kay said.
