Will it ever feel like fall here? It’ll be 10 to 15 degrees hotter than normal
As winter storm Aiden pounds Colorado, the Grand Strand will continue to feel like summer, with temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above normal, according to forecasters.
Warm, summer-like weather will continue throughout the rest of the week, a weather briefing from the National Weather Service in Wilmington, N.C. says.
Even though it’s almost mid-October, a seven-day forecast shows 80 degree temperatures throughout this week.
But don’t plan to go to the beach to take advantage of the abnormally hot temperatures.
It’s gonna rain. A lot.
“Tropical moisture will continue to feed northward into the Carolinas with plenty of clouds, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms through mid week,” the briefing states.
Some areas along the Grand Strand may see higher rain totals than others. There will be around a quarter to a half inch of rain each day it’s expected to rain, according to Mark Bacon, meteorologist with NWS Wilmington.
Forecasters say the temperatures may begin to feel a bit more comfortable by the end of the week as a modified cold front moves into the area.
“This front should produce a focus for increased thunder storm activity, especially inland, Wednesday into Thursday but, there should be increasing sunshine and lower chance of showers by Friday behind the front,” the briefing says.
A moderate rip current risk may continue through the week and the chance of coastal flooding will decrease as we move further away from the full moon, according to forecasters.
