Police have made entry into the Flintlake apartment complex, after a man barricaded himself inside during a domestic situation, Krystal Dotson, public information officer with the Horry County Police Department, said.

Officials said that the suspect was barricaded after firing shots near the Forestbrook neighborhood, and that hostages were not involved in the incident that began around 12:20 p.m. Friday.

No one else was injured in the shooting.

“Officers did recently make entry inside the home where they found the subject deceased,” Dotson said.

It is unclear at the time how the subject was killed. The death is being investigated

Negotiators were working with the subject in order to gain access to the building throughout the day.
