Pawleys Island native crowned Miss South Carolina
A Pawleys Island woman was crowned Miss South Carolina 2017 in front of a roaring crowd at Columbia’s Township Auditorium on Saturday, according to a release from the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization.
Twenty-three-year-old Pawleys Island native Suzi Roberts, who was representing Miss Columbia in the pageant, performed a lyrical dance to “Greatest Love of All.” She won the swimsuit contest and talent preliminary and was named the overall talent winner, according to the release.
Roberts will compete in the Miss America Pageant in September in Atlantic City, N.J. The Miss America Pageant will air live on the ABC network. Roberts attends the University of South Carolina.
Runners-up for the title of Miss South Carolina are: Miss Greater Greer, Sydney Sill, first runner-up; Miss Spartanburg, Sydney Ford, second runner-up; Miss Clemson, Taylor Miller, third; and, Miss Florence, Christal Potter, fourth.
Also in the top 10 were Miss Inman, Natalie Southgate; Miss Upstate, Davia Bunch; Miss Midlands, Morgan Romano; Miss Greenville Scottish Games, Mikeya Murphy; and, Miss Georgia Carolina State Fair, Kendyl Pennington. Miss Myrtle Beach, Morgan Elvis, was a semi-finalist in the pageant.
