Section of Georgetown closed after substation explosion

A substation at Saints Delight and Pennyroyal Roads in Georgetown exploded Wednesday evening, said Public Information Officer Jackie Broach.

The explosion occurred when the substation was re-energized.

At this time no injuries have been reported.

According to South Strand News, the substation was part of Santee Electric Cooperative. Motorists are advised to avoid the area at this time.
