Fire threatens Marsh Villas at Litchfield by the Sea

Midway Fire Rescue is responding to a fire at Marsh Villas at Litchfield by the Sea.

Due to flooding emergency vehicles are having trouble getting to the scene, but special military vehicles have been ordered to help with transport.

No additional details are available at this time.

Update:

No injuries were reported after the fire this afternoon at Litchfield By the Sea’s March Villas, Eggiman reported.

Damage was limited to two building and four units, despite a delay caused by flooding on the roadway that slowed firefighters trying to reach the fire.

Eggiman stated that water on the road was five feet deep in one area.

A special vehicle was eventually needed to reach the fire, and firefighters were able to reach the scene about 10 minutes after it started. Firefighters worked for 90 minutes to put out the fire.

An investigation will most likely not begin until Monday, after conditions have settled down.

“Thank goodness we had the National Guard here,” Eggiman said. “They were really invaluable in responding to this incident.”

One Midway fire truck was damaged by floodwaters after it attempted to reach the fire.
