Pawleys Island home destroyed by fire during Hurricane Matthew

A Pawleys Island home was destroyed by a fire Saturday morning, according to WMBF.

Chief Doug Eggiman stated that the first Midway Fire Rescue fire engine arrived at the home around 6:10 a.m. and the building was 80 percent involved.

While the fire is now out, there are hot spots that cannot be reached due to wind conditions.

Adjacent homes were threatened, but firefighters worked to but out the fire before they reached the houses.

Cheif Eggiman said that there was nobody in the home when the fire occurred.

The home is located in the 200 block of Atlantic Avenue in Pawleys Island.
