Watch this baby sea turtle scurrying to the sea in Garden City
A baby Loggerhead sea turtle was caught in action crawling across the beach to the shore in Garden City Monday night.
Jeff McClary, head coordinator and co-founder of the South Carolina United Turtle Enthusiasts, captured the moment around 6 p.m during an inventory.
The nest was located at 1713 South Waccamaw Drive.
According to McClary, seven sea turtles were released.
Loggerheads are the most common type of sea turtle to nest along the Grand Strand and throughout South Carolina, Myrtle Beach State Park Ranger Ann Wilson previously told The Sun News.
So far, the state has recorded 5,205 Loggerhead nests this year, according to statistics from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resource’s Marine Turtle Conservation Program.
