Would-be robber apologizes after Circle K clerk scolds him
Horry County Police are asking for help in identifying a male suspect in connection with an attempted armed robbery that happened last week.
On June 18, police responded to the Circle K convenience store at 13 E Highway 90 in Little River after an unidentified man walked into the store and demanded money while holding a knife, according to an Horry County Police report.
A night clerk told police a man with a “small build” entered the store around 1 a.m. and approached the counter. He then started demanding money from the cash register and pulled a knife out of his pocket, the report says.
However, the clerk was “unfazed” by the man’s efforts, and didn’t give the man money and told him to leave the store, according to the report.
Once the man realized that his efforts were going nowhere, “he apologized to the clerk” and put the knife back in his pocket and left the store.
The man was either the passenger or driver of a Chevrolet Suburban that headed southbound to North Myrtle Beach, according to police.
He is described by police as a white man in his early 30s, is 5-foot-9-inches tall and weighs around 130 lbs.
