Inactive players for Panthers vs. Buccaneers: Carolina makes switch at backup QB

The Panthers have made a switch at back-up quarterback.

After second-year quarterback Will Grier was active for last week’s season opener vs. the Raiders, the Panthers made him inactive for Week 2 at the Bucaneers. Former XFL quarterback P.J. Walker is the backup quarterback to Teddy Bridgewater and is making his Panthers debut.

The other big change for Carolina is that rookie cornerback Troy Pride Jr. will not be starting opposite Donte Jackson. Instead, Rasul Douglas will make the start after he performed well when Jackson left Week 1 early with an ankle injury.

Defensive end Stephen Weatherly and defensive tackle Zach Kerr will also start in place of rookie Yetur Gross-Matos (concussion) and Kawann Short (foot).

Guard Michael Schofield is starting for the injured Dennis Daley (ankle) once again.
