NBA guard Devonte’ Graham arrested on DWI charge in Raleigh

A North Carolina State Highway Patrol officer arrested an NBA player Thursday morning on Capital Boulevard.

Devonte’ Graham, 27, was charged with driving while impaired.

The officer pulled Graham over about 2:49 a.m. for a speeding violation, according to the Highway Patrol. Graham was reportedly driving at a speed of 63 in a 40 mph zone.

He was taken to the Wake County Detention Center where he was given a breath test for alcohol, according to the Highway Patrol.

Results showed Graham had a 0.11 blood alcohol concentration. In North Carolina, the blood alcohol limit for legal driving is 0.08.

In addition to the DWI charge, Graham was charged with a speeding offense.

He was released from the Detention Center under a $3,000 bond and has a scheduled court date for July 22.

A native of Knightdale, Graham currently plays guard for the New Orleans Pelicans.

Before being drafted in 2018, Graham played basketball at Broughton High School in Raleigh.

He began his NBA career with the Charlotte Hornets and played for them until last year when he was traded to the Pelicans.

Graham currently lives in Louisiana, according to Wake County arrest records.
