Final score

Myrtle Beach Pelicans 10, Carolina Mudcats 7 (Box score)

Turning point

After Carolina tied Myrtle Beach with three runs in the top of the eighth inning, outfielder Charcer Burks hit a two-RBI double in the bottom half of the eighth and later scored on an Andrew Ely bunt single to put the Pelicans ahead by the final margin.

The man

Myrtle Beach slugger Yasiel Balaguert, who had his first career multi-home run game with two. Balaguert also followed up a three-hit performance Tuesday with three more Wednesday, as he also lined a single.

He said it

Obviously, the offense deserves a lot of credit. Balaguert had a really nice, solid ballgame for the second straight night. In the eighth, [Daniel] Spingola getting a leadoff walk helped and [Erick] Castillo getting the bunt down really aided the inning, and [Bryant] Flete drew a walk, and Burks had a really nice hit with that triple to center to give us a lead.[Closer Ryan] McNeil was really good there at the end, and I thought [James] Pugliese and [Tommy] Nance did a good job, coming to save the damage for the other guy. But unfortunately, they got themselves in a little trouble. The credit goes to the offense and there were a lot of pluses.
