Winston-Salem Dash take down Myrtle Beach Pelicans in slugfest
Final score
Winston-Salem Dash 13, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 7
Turning point
Despite putting up four runs in the first inning, Winston-Salem allowed Myrtle Beach to tie it up in the top of the fourth. However, the Dash exploded for six runs in the bottom half of the fourth, highlighted by a Mason Robbins grand slam off Pelicans reliever Pedro Araujo, and they never looked back en route to the win.
The man
Robbins, whose only hit proved to be the most pivotal.
Batting .1000
Pelicans slugger Yasiel Balaguert went 4-for-4 (all singles) with two RBIs and scored a run. Balaguert – who is in the top 5 in multiple Carolina League hitting categories – also drew a walk as he reached base every time he stepped to the plate.
On-base machine
Pelicans Rashad Crawford has put up some unreal numbers recently, and even had three hits and scored three runs Tuesday. Crawford has a .352/.419/.492 slash line with 23 runs scored, 13 RBIs, one home run, two triples, and has stolen six bases in his last 16 games. He’s also reached base safely in 15 of his last 17 games played.
Decision takers
W–Jacob Morris (1-3, 3.41 ERA); L–James Pugliese (2-4, 3.63).
Rough start
Pelicans starter Jeremy Null didn’t make it out of the first inning as he allowed four runs (all unearned), two hits and walked two in 2/3 innings.
By the numbers
