Myrtle Beach Pelicans fail to win fifth straight, fall to Frederick
Final score
Frederick Keys 4, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 3
Turning point
After Carolina League home run leader Aderlin Rodriguez grounded out to finish his night 0-for-4, Cameron Kneeland hit an RBI single to break a 3-all tie in the top of the eighth inning, which would prove to be the game-winner as the Pelicans were shut down in the bottom of the eighth and ninth.
The man
Kneeland, who was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
He said it
Yeah, tonight was a tough one. We couldn’t make it five straight [wins], but we just have to bounce back tomorrow.[Starter Trevor Clifton] and the pitching did a good job to keep us in this one, definitely. … Things were looking good in the sixth and we were starting to get our rhythm back, but we couldn’t get anything going after that and unfortunately they did.
