Myrtle Beach Pelicans 11, Frederick (Md.) Keys 3
The Pelicans exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning and Myrtle Beach slugger Yasiel Balaguert followed the action-packed frame with a solo home run in the sixth to pad the lead.
Balaguert, who was 4-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored.
Balaguert also hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning of Friday’s game, leading the Pelicans to an 8-3 win over the Keys.
Myrtle Beach starter Jeremy Null made his first start of the year after being sent to the Pelicans from Cubs’ extended spring training on Tuesday. Recovering from a shoulder ailment, the 6-foot-7 Null struck out three and scattered three hits across five scoreless frames en route to the victory.
