Final score

Winston-Salem Dash 4, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 2

Turning point

Tied at 2 going into the ninth, the Dash took two runs off Pelicans reliever James Pugliese in the top half thanks to a two-out two-RBI triple by Marcus Davis and Winston-Salem shut the door on Myrtle Beach in the bottom half.

The man

Davis, whose triple was his lone hit of the game.

Play of the game

In the top of the fourth inning, Pelicans center fielder Rashad Crawford stretched out and made a beautiful diving catch in right-center field to end the frame.

Feeling hot

Crawford is having perhaps the best start to the year of any batter on the Pelicans roster. Batting leadoff, the 22-year-old has put together a .381 average and .619 slugging percentage in six games.

He said it

You can spell loss with L-O-B (left on base) tonight. We left a lot of guys on. [Starter Jonathan] Martinez started the game giving up three straight hits and two runs, but I thought he did a great job. He deserved to win this ballgame with the effort he put in over seven innings. The seventh inning we left the bases loaded, the eighth inning we left a couple; just about every inning we left somebody on.We played great defense; Crawford made a great play in the game and [third baseman Jason] Vosler made a good one too on the back end. You have to get the ball in play. If you don't get the ball in play, you're leaning on walks or fastballs or wild pitches. Sometimes it happens, but not tonight. We need more guys to stand in the box and put in good at-bats and put runners in scoring position or drive them home. It's not the end of the world but if we're going to be good, we're going to have to start knocking in runs.
