In the eighth inning, Wilmington scored on a wild pitch by Pelicans reliever James Farris to give the Blue Rocks a 3-2 advantage. Myrtle Beach didn’t go down with a fight as Victor Caratini led off the ninth inning with a double, but the Pelicans failed to capitalize and Wilmington shut the door.
